You dont have to be an elite athlete to be an elite basketball player. What you need is to be deceptive with how you use your speed & athleticism, as well as, be able to 'play at the right pace'. See this thread - aka the @Joeingles7 appreciation thread - to learn more. @utahjazzpic.twitter.com/pWaT2Ao733
He's an example how using deception in pace can get you open in off ball screen scenarios. Ingles uses his 'slow to fast' change in speed to get separation from his defender on the wide pin down. Then he 'plays at the right pace' once he has an advantage on his defender. @sltribpic.twitter.com/IkQq6s67V8
"Slow to fast" fake creates seperation from defender.
He times his cut so he comes off the screen just as the screener decelerates to set it
First step after recieving ball cuts off the angle for D to revover in front
Ingles plays at the right pace - fast enough to keep his advantage, but slow enought to see how the help defence reacts → He sees a cutting reciever and feeds him the ball resulting in free throws
In this clip, Ingles uses deception (faking to use the PNR & a change in speed) to refuse ball screen & create an advantage which leads to a defensive rotation. Again, once he has the advantage, he plays with poise to see the rotating defender & make the pass to the open shooter. pic.twitter.com/5Wt0G6Y1Fo
Ingles sells to his defender he will use the screen → Causing the defence to react and open up a driving lane → 'Slow to fast' causes an even greater advantage
Here's another example of using deception to get open in off ball screen scenarios. We call this move used by Ingles a "Go-Stop-Go". Excellent for getting a defender, who is playing the cutter tightly, off balance so that you can create separation to come off the screen. pic.twitter.com/IfmbjbKCqZ
This clip is classic Ingles! Looks like he is 'going through the motions' on the play, then suddenly accelerates ("Slow to Fast" fake) to get separation from his defender (and cut off screen) just as the passer gets into position to make the pass. Excellent timing! pic.twitter.com/AI2TtCJPje
イングルスの「~なふりをする」(go through the motions)プレーの典型例。
Slow cut through the paint almost looking disinterested in the play
'Slow to fast' fake decieves defender and creates seperation
In this clip you see another "Slow to Fast" fake to create separation to come off the ball screen, timed just as the defender turns his vision away from Ingles. At the end of the clip, the timing of the pass to the roller is exquisite (even though the shot is missed in the end) pic.twitter.com/b490WNttJA
Ingles spaces the floor - 'high & wide'
(DFが離してくる場合は、安全にボールを受けることのできるポイントを作れる) When the defender turns his vision to the ball handler (and away from Ingles).... → ....Ingles accrelarates, creating seperation from his defender.
Setting up the defence prior to the pick and roll is crucial. In this clip, Ingles uses a jab fake to set his defender up to be screened as the screener runs into the pick. After he gets downhill, he uses a pass fake on the screener's defender to create an uncontested layup. pic.twitter.com/IbtMdKEHyD
As the screener is running into the PNR.... → ....Ingles sets his defender up with a jab step... → Which changes the angle of the defender's feet from this...to this
The defender's new foot position, and the flat angle of the screen, allow Ingles to create an advantage off the PNR.
それはRIP THRU(ボールの位置を左から右、あるいは右から左に入れ替えながらドライブを行うプレー)を行う際、左から右へボールが移動し、利き手の右手のドライブで攻めることが出来るからだという。
